Make presentations and collaborate with Microsoft SharedView
Is a fast, easy way to share documents and screen views with small groups of friends or coworkers; anytime, anywhere. It allows you to share presentations and collaborate in real-time with up to 15 participants at the same time.
Use SharedView to put your heads together and collaborate - create, convey, and communicate…across physical boundaries, through firewalls, and down to the smallest details.
Download and install Microsoft SharedView (installation is so straight forward, just about three clicks). Once you get it installed, it will appear as toolbar on the top part of your main screen.
Don’t worry if you close it, a shortcut has been placed (if you haven’t un-checked it during installation) on your desktop to let you re-run it again.
To start using it, no matter if you want to create a new share session, join one or change your options, you need to click on the SharedView icon on the left part of your toolbar and login with your Windows Live ID (you can enroll your regular e-mail address to use it as Windows Live ID).
Note that Windows Live ID is not required to join a session (i.e. your customers will not need to own a Windows Live ID to see your presentations) it is just needed to create new sessions.
To start a session to share documents with others and collaborate in real-time, click Start a new session (instructions that are going to be sent to other participants will appear on the screen) and then choose Copy instructions to the clipboard (i.e. to add it to a meeting request or an existing e-mail) or Open a new e-mail message (i.e. to send it directly to the participants).
Click Start to start the session and allow others to connect; a message will appear informing you about the session creation.
Also, additional options (Participants, Handouts, Share and Chat message box) will be available on your toolbar:
To share your presentation, simply open it, click on Share, select it on the list and click Start. If you want to allow participants to collaborate and use mouse pointers (i.e. to mark text) select Allow personal mouse pointers at the bottom of your application list.
A Currently Sharing additional text will appear on your application’s title bar:
At this point you just need to allow participants to join your session (only for those who are not logged in with a Microsoft Live ID account)
