Virtualization with Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V

A few months ago I got a server with enough storage to house a virtualization server and have finally decided to give it a try using Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V. Initially I will setup the test environment to perform the 70-647 exam practices. Once achieved, I will make an active directory migration from Windows Server 2003 R2 to Windows Server 2008 R2, this will help me to detect and correct problems to prepare my production environment migration.

Drawing on my recent euphoria, I decided to try the virtual sessions that Microsoft is doing in the Microsoft Career Conference. Yesterday I attended the October MC3: Virtualization where Symon Perriman offered an introduction to the world of virtualization.

Tomorrow at 5 pm they have scheduled a second larger non-free session (Jump Start on Exam 70-659: Windows Server 2008 R2, Server Virtualization) where they will cover Hyper –V more in deep, with case studies and laboratory tests. Since it is a preparatory session for exam 70-659, Microsoft offers (included in price) a discount of 50 USD for the exam.

By the way, here you have the link to the Virtual Labs that Microsoft offers for free to evaluate products, makes sense to have a look at it.
