how to configure network teams with windows server 2008 r2 core

First of all, let me say that this post only applies to HP servers compatible with HP Network Configuration Utility. That said, let’s setup a network team using the HP Network Configuration Utility on a Windows Server 2008 R2 core installation. Move to C:\Program Files\HP\NCU and execute the control panel applet hpteam.cpl (I’m assuming that you have used HP Smart Start media to install your server). The HP Network Configuration Utility will open to let you setup your team as done in a non-core installation.

Now that you have your team setup you need to assign the proper IP address to it. On a core installation the easiest way to initially setup everything is using the sconfig.cmd script.

To setup your team chose ‘Network Settings’ (option #8) on main screen. Choose Index# of the NIC you want to setup (in my case option #2). On the ‘Network Adapter Settings’ screen chose (option #1) and answer the appearing questions.

Your server’s networking configuration is set, now you can join it to a domain and add roles.
